今日は日曜日で暇だったので、ハルデンを散歩してみた。私はここに来たばかりでよくわからないが、聞いたところによると日曜日はすべてのお店が閉まってゴーストタウンのようになるらしい。
Because it is Sunday today and I have nothing to do, I took a walk around
Halden. I am still a stranger here, but I heard that all of the stores
are closed on Sundays, and it becomes like a ghost town.
早速、私が住んでいるところからディジタルカメラを片手にハルデンの街を散歩した。簡単な解説とともに写真を紹介する。
Anyway, I took a walk around Halden with a digital camera. I introduce
some pictures along with simple explanations.
これが住んでいるところである。６件のアパートがくっついている。すなわち、ここには６世帯が住んであるわけである。私のところは、左から３つ目。
This picture shows where I live. 6 apartments stand side by side.
That is, 6 families are staying here. My apartment is the third from the
left.
アパートの周辺。右側に並んでいるのは車庫である。
This is the neighborhood. The sheds on the right side are garages.
アパート周辺。この坂道をどんどん下るとダウンタウンに出る。と言っても、ここは人口27,000人の街（村？）なので、お店はあまりない。
Nearby apartment. If you go down along with this road, you can
reach the downtown. But it is the town (village?), which has only 27,000
population, so that there are not so many stores.

衛星用のアンテナがほとんど水平方向を向いている。さすがにここは緯度が高い。

It is high latitude here.
なかなか綺麗な街並みだ。
Beautiful town scenery.
道の途中に墓地がある。ここもよく手入れされている。
On the way to the town center, there is a cemetery. It is well kept.
今日は特に天気がいいので、写真が綺麗だ。
Today is a fine day. So, the pictures are beautiful.

う〜〜ん。人がいない。ゴーストタウンか？

道の反対を見ても、この通り・・・・。
On the opposite side of the road, like this.
小さいながらショッピングモールもある。ここは３階建てで、一番下にスーパーがある。笑えるのは、こちらでも100円ショップのようなものがある。ちなみに、10Kr(クローネ)ショップと言うらしい。1Kr=16.5円ぐらい。
もちろん、今日は日曜日なのでこのショッピングモールは閉まっている。商売する気がないらしい・・・。
There is a small shopping mall. It is three-stories high, and there is a
supermarket on the 1st floor. Ridiculously, there is something like 100
yen shop here. It is called 10Kr. shop. 1Kr.=16.5 yen.
Of course, the shopping mall is closed because today is Sunday. They
don't have business spirit.

This is a main road of the town. There is a big parking area on the left
side.

おぉ、こんなところにBMWが。。。。ホワイトウインカーに、17インチホイール。ヘッドライトウォッシャーも付いている。
Oh! That's a BMW. It has white winkers, 17 inch wheels and
headlight washers.
ショッピングモールの近くの公園。

公園も閑散としている。ご老人が数人いた。
It was quiet in the park. I found some elderly.
公園にはこんな像が建っている。なんだろう？

一応、噴水なんかもあったりする。
There is a fountain, too.
ここがメインストリート。"Storgata(ストルガータ)"というらしい。お店は全部閉まっている。おいおい、大丈夫か、ノルウェー・・・。
This is the main street. It is called "Storgata". All of
the stores are closed. Are you O.K., Norway?

おおっ！ 人がいた！ 彼らはレストラン"Dickens"に行くようだ。ここは、日曜でも営業しているらしい。一昨日、ここのレストランに行ってみたが、食べ物が抜群にうまい。どうやら、ハルデンで一番おいしいらしい。
Oh! I found people. They seem to go to a restaurant
"Dickens". It is open even on Sundays. The day before
yesterday, I went there and I found the dishes were quite delicious. I
heard that this restaurant is the best in Halden.
少し歩くと、山の上に、城塞(Fortress)が見える。ハルデンはスウェーデンとの国境のすぐ近くにあるので、かつてはここでスウェーデン軍と戦っていたらしい。
After the short walk, a fortress can be seen on the top of the hill.
Halden is located close to the border of Sweden, so that they used to fight
against Swedish army here.

Because it is beautiful, I took another.
川のすぐ横には、鉄道が走っている。
There is a railroad beside the river.
橋を渡りきると、こちらにも少しお店がある。
After crossing the bridge, there are some stores.
渡った橋はこんな感じ。ちなみに、この橋は歩行者＆自転車専用である。
The bridge I crossed is like this. It is only for pedestrians and bikes.
駅の近くには、ホテルもある。"GRAND HOTEL"というわりには、小さいが・・・。
There is a hotel nearby a station. Although the name is "GRAND
HOTEL", it is small....
これが鉄道の駅である。日曜なので閉まっていたりする。おいおい・・・。いいのか、ノルウェー。
This is the railway station. Today is Sunday, so it is closed.

駅のホームはこんな感じ。ヨーロッパの駅なので、改札はない。
This is the platform. There is no ticket gate because of European
station.
駅の周囲にも人影がない。
There is no one around the station.
駅の近くには、海があって港が見える。この写真からはわかりませんね。
You can see a harbor near the station. You can not know it from this
picture.
ほら、あったでしょ。この港はフィヨルドだったりする。だから、私が住んでいるアパートの２階の窓からフィヨルドが見えたりするわけだ。
Look! There is. This harbor is a kind of Fjord. So, I can
see a Fjord from the second floor of my apartment.
角度を変えて、もう１枚。

なんか広い道路があったりする。おそらく、荷揚げした荷物をトラックで運ぶためだろう。
There is a wide road. Maybe, it is used for the trucks which
transport cargos.
おぉ、こんなところにもBMWが！。おまけにツーリングだったりする。
Oh! I found a BMW here. In addition, it is a touring model.
港の近くには、こんなアパートがある。別荘か？
There is such apartment close to the harbor. Is it a villa?
ここはバスのターミナル。向こうの山の上に城塞が見える。
This is a bus terminal. You can see a fortress on the hill.
ここも港。どうやら小さいクルーザーがたくさんあるようだ。向こうにフィヨルドも見える。
Here is also a harbor. There are small cruisers. Fjord can be seen
far away.
港の向こうには、城塞がある。
Above the harbor, there is the fortress.
港から、もう１枚。なぜか海の匂いがしない。フィヨルドのために塩分濃度が低いのであろうか？
Another picture of the harbor. It does not smell of sea. The
reason is that the salt density is low because of Fjord?
これが"Storgata"の表示である。いわゆるメインストリート。一応、港の近くまで続いていることになっているらしい。
This is the display "Storgata". In other word, main
street. It is supposed to continue close to the harbor.
日曜日の"Storgata"。ちらほらと人影はある。

閑散とした街並みの向こうに、またもや城塞が見える。
You can see the fortress again over the quiet town.
う〜〜ん。今日は天気がいいねぇ。みんなどうしてるんだろう・・・。
Well, it is a fine day today. What are they doing?
ここは車が通れる橋だ。
This is a bridge where cars can cross.

川の向こうに見えるのは製紙工場らしい。
It seems a paper factory above the river.
ハルデンの製紙工場は、ノルウェイの雑誌の紙のほとんどを生産しているらしい。こんなところに製紙工場があるのに、川の水はいたって綺麗である。さすがに、環境を考えた国だ。
I heard that the paper factory in Halden manufactures almost all of the
magazine papers in Norway. Although there is a paper factory here, the
water of the river is quite clean. They well think about environment.
川のほとりからも、城塞が見える。
Beside the river, you can see the fortress, too.
川の杭には、鳥もとまっていたりする。

こちらのガソリンスタンド。ガソリンは自分で入れるようだ。
This is a gas station. Fill it by yourself.
ここは、さっきのショッピングモールの駐車場。立体駐車場である。土地があまってるから立体にする必要はないように思うのだが・・・。
This is a parking area of the shopping mall. It is a multistory parking
garage. I don't think it is necessary to build it as multistory, because
there is much land around here.
こんな広場もあったりする。このオブジェはなんだろう？

街では、こんな感じの老夫婦を何度か見かけた。歳を取っても仲がいいようだ。
In the town, I sometimes saw old couples like this. They get along with
together even they get old.
こうやって見ていると、いいところだねぇ、ハルデンは。田舎だけど・・・。
It is fantastic place, Halden. But too country....
